Circus Artist Essentials: 101 Workshops

Evana De Lune is an internationally acclaimed burlesque artist, model, instructor, and producer, renowned for pushing the boundaries of the art form and captivating audiences across the globe. She has worked in the make up industry and has a passion for make up artistry which has come from over a decade working as a model.

Born and raised in the northern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, Evana is of Dutch-Indonesian descent. Growing up surrounded by a vibrant, diverse community of immigrants and queer creatives, her exploration of her own sexuality as a queer woman ultimately led her to the world of burlesque. She was deeply drawn to the art form’s inherent acceptance and its celebration of the very communities she called home. Captivated by Old Hollywood, she found her aesthetic roots in iconic trailblazers like Josephine Baker, Bettie Page, and Gypsy Rose Lee, alongside modern luminaries like Dita Von Teese. Yet, while her visual language is steeped in the past, Evana is fiercely committed to a progressive future, standing as a staunch advocate for the ethos: “vintage glamour, not vintage values.”

Beyond the stage and the camera, Evana has led the way as a passionate educator and advocate for bodily empowerment. She has taken her highly sought-after burlesque workshops on sold-out tours to every capital city in Australia, as well as throughout New Zealand and Europe.

Blending photography, illustration, and performance art, Frenchie Holiday crafts a richly layered universe steeped in nostalgia and imagination.

Her work draws deeply from the aesthetics of bygone eras evoking the glamour of vintage Hollywood, the elegance of mid-century fashion, and the surreal charm of forgotten cabarets. With each piece, she resurrects fragments of history and reinvents them through a contemporary lens, transforming the past into a dreams cap that feels both familiar and otherworldly. Frenchie Holiday doesn’t just reference the past, she breathes new life into it, inviting viewers to step into a world where time blurs, and every frame tells a story whispered through the decades.

Hanne Grant is a circus performer and arts worker specialising in hula hoops and smiling. Hanne is a founding member of award-winning drag cabaret YUMMY, for which she also held the roles of Company Manager and Co-Producer until 2021. She has both a Bachelor of Circus Arts and Master of Strategic Communications, and prior to her current role as Engagement and Development Manager at Circus Centre Melbourne, she worked as Marketing and Communications Manager at Women’s Circus.

Hanne has an extensive (ongoing!) career as a circus artist, running her own business as a sole trader selling her brand and acts to shows and events across the globe. She has worked in a variety of contexts, from roving, cabarets, line up shows, circus shows, festivals, corporate events, private events and all manner of weird and wonderful gigs.
